What To Expect – From Consultation To Surgery

Start with a 1-hour paid consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon, dedicated to you. During this time, you’ll meet one-on-one with Dr. Bailey to ensure you thoroughly understand and explore your options for the best tummy tuck outcome possible.

Meeting Dr. Bailey

After listening to your goals and performing an exam, Dr. Bailey will take a significant amount of time explaining what your options may be. His friendly, easygoing, and relaxed attitude puts even the most anxious patients at ease. Ultimately he will make recommendations based on your goals and your anatomy, as well as carefully explain these in easy-to-understand language.

Meeting Dr. Bailey’s Assistants

Our Medical Assistants Tracy and Katie will check you in right away and review your medical history. Along the way, you will meet our Nurse Practitioner Bailey Platt, ARNP, who will assist Dr. Bailey in your pre- and postoperative care, as well.

During Your Consultation

We know first impressions matter and have created a warm, welcoming environment for our patients. When you check in at the reception desk, you can fill out forms if you haven’t submitted them electronically.

Post-Surgery Care

Though prescribed, the majority of Dr. Bailey’s tummy tuck patients do not feel the need to take narcotics after surgery. Dr. Bailey uses state-of-the-art Enhanced Recovery protocols to minimize postoperative discomfort.

The Tummy Tuck Surgery Process – Explained

No two patients are exactly alike, and our surgeons tailor our surgical services accordingly. For most patients, the tummy tuck procedure will follow this basic trajectory.

The initial consultation will include a physical examination and a review of your medical history, affirming your eligibility for surgery. This conversation will also help our surgeons know if a tummy tuck alone will help you meet your goals or if you would benefit from additional or alternative procedures.

Anesthesia is provided to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the tummy tuck procedure. Incisions are made below the swimsuit line, allowing scars to be hidden even in your bathing suit. For the surgery itself, we often use liposuction to remove excess fat and tissue. We also perform rectus plication and tone the abdominal muscle.

Plan to rest and heal for 10 days to two weeks, and use non-narcotic pain medications to manage discomfort. You will need to abstain from vigorous exercise for about 4-6 weeks.

At your pre-surgery appointment, you will receive instructions about how to prepare for an abdominoplasty, including guidelines for pausing certain medications or adjusting your diet.
